Web2HQ.com background
Web 2.0:
Many Web2HQ
websites are in what is known as the "Web 2.0"
space.
The popular term "Web 2.0" was coined by US
publishers O'Reilly Media as a name
for the current Internet business revolution that is
being driven by collaboration between Internet
users.
Business
model: Like the most successful new Internet
ventures, many Web2HQ commercial sites are built on the
business model defined by New York venture capitalist
Fred Wilson in
2006:
"Give your service away
for free, possibly ad supported.. acquire a lot of customers
very efficiently through word of mouth, referral networks,
organic search marketing, etc., then offer premium priced value
added services or an enhanced version of your service to your
customer base."
Web2HQ has developed
programs to allow the very rapid implementation of
fully-featured websites that serve as a focal point or "hub"
for niche interest groups on the Internet. As soon as there is
significant user volume on a site, it is expanded and
developed further to match the unique needs of the user
group. This targeted development is based on
user-specific analysis and
feedback.
Founder: Web2HQ and its sites were founded
by Charles Handmer of Sydney,
Australia.
Charles Handmer is the
business manager behind many new products,
services and opportunities, particularly new Internet
based businesses. He brings a wealth of experience and a
strong track record to the challenge of running Web2HQ and
its many websites.
In addition to his role
as chief executive of the Web2HQ group, Charles previously
established start-ups Abacus Australasia and Abacus Media,
AltoEdge.com, VidCom Technology, the online music Muso
Group including new recording label Muso Records, and several
others.
Charles Handmer has
worked across the USA China and Australia
assisting multi-national organizations with their Internet
marketing and technology strategies. In the
process he has engineered $60m corporate acquisitions,
negotiated $300m international technology agreements, designed
and developed new mobile technologies to win a $70m contract in
China, and is credited with the world's first implementation of
JPEG2000 on a mobile
device.
Charles has always combined people,
technology and marketing in his work. He was 19 years old when
he established his first company, Argent Marketing, employing
over 20 staff and taking one floor of a prestige building on
Sydney Harbour. At 21 he was a graduate recruit into IBM,
becoming a computer marketing specialist, then worked with
Honeywell and Siemens-Nixdorf before building his own
technology businesses. As well as being an entrepreneur,
Charles knows business: he has full corporate accounting skills
and Six Sigma qualifications.
Charles also works with
organizations and communities that are tackling the
environmental and social challenges of today, helping them gain
the benefits of web communication and collaboration. He is
making the latest software and online tools available to
Internet user groups, creating the online communities,
resources and collaboration that they want and need to achieve
their goals.
